For now, we would like to share some of our favourite spots in and around Vilnius. We will be putting up more information on things to do around Vilnius at a later point.

Užupis – a self-proclaimed independent republic within Vilnius, with a number of art galleries, cosy terraced riverside bars and cafes, steep streets and green spaces.

The Hill of Three Crosses – the best panoramic view you can get in Vilnius. Be prepared to climb quite a few stairs though!

Lukiškės prison complex – an old prison, now converted to a space for gigs and clubbing. You can book a day- or night-time excursions if you want to learn about the dark past of this place!

Trakai Island Castle – 30 minutes train drive away from Vilnius, Trakai is a quaint medieval town with an island castle being the key landmark. Rent a boat to traverse the lake and try kibinai – a traditional pastry of the local Karaite minority!

Vingis Park and Karoliniškės Preserve – two gorgeous bits of woodland in the centre of Vilnius, where we went for countless romantic walks. Many riverside and hilltop vistas – once we even met a family of beavers here!
